How to Water Your Electric Forklift Battery
Properly watering your forklift battery is essential to maintaining long battery life. You should check your water level during every charge, or at least once a week. Here is a simple procedure to keep yourself safe and your forklift running:
- Always use eye protection and rubber gloves.
- Disconnect the battery from the charger.
- Unscrew each cap from the battery cell, look inside and check the water level.
- If the water level is below the plates on the inside, you need to bring the water level just above them. Be careful not to overdo it, as that can cause the water to bubble over next time it’s charged, which can cause acid to come out.
- Replace the caps tightly.
- Plug the battery back into the forklift and you’re ready to keep working.
Keeping the right level of water in your forklift battery will ensure that you get the longest life from it.
